When you started your Las Vegas business, you most likely created a business plan to map out the strategic business direction your company would follow and projected sales, profits, costs, etc. In the same vein, you need to create a basic marketing communications plan for your business as well.
The goal of a marketing communications plan is to make potential customers in Las Vegas (and beyond) aware of your business and its products and services. This is accomplished by creating websites, brochures, flyers, powerpoint presentations, press releases and more.
In order to write a meaningful marketing communications plan, you need to do research to understand your target market and target customer, what materials would be most appropriate to reach that customer and what budget and timeline will help you reach your marcom goals.
The following are some great links to help you understand exactly what a marketing communications plan is and some templates and information to help guide you along:

Powerpoint presentations are still an invaluable marketing tool that you can use when presenting your Las Vegas company or business’ products and services to a potential client. Powerpoint presentations are used as a backdrop to your speech or presentation to a potential client. They should be well designed, well written and move quickly in order to keep your audience’s attention.
When you actually sit down to create a presentation for your Las Vegas company, you should keep the following Powerpoint tips in mind:
- Keep concise – if there’s one tip I cannot express enough, it is to keep your Powerpoint slides short and sweet. They are meant to keep listeners and views moving along with your verbal presentation. Even if your presentation is a leave-behind or going to be emailed to a prospective client, you need to keep only the basic facts on the slides. Powerpoint slides are not meant to be web pages or resumes, etc.
- Design professionally – use one of the templates that Powerpoint provides or have a professional company design your Powerpoint slides. Having a professional look and feel provides credibility to your company and keeps your company in prospective customers mind-set when considering which company to choose.
- One topic per slide – keep your information to one topic per slide, even if it means using a few extra slides. Packing too much information onto slides is annoying and distracting. If you have information that will not fit onto one slide, consider breaking it up into two slides rather than making the font small and the the slide full of text.
- Use visuals – Powerpoint provides many predefined feature for images and animation effects. Don’t over do it but images and photos that support what information is on each slide lends visual appeal and animation can help keep things interesting. Don’t overuse images and animation.
- Print outs – when presenting your Powerpoint presentation to a group of potential customers, provide them each with a printout of your Powerpoint presentation. At least a black and white copy. Always great to leave them with a “leave-behind”.
- Use the slide master – look in the help menu and use the Slide Master feature offered by Powerpoint to create a template background, templated fonts and font sizes consistent.
- Practice – when your Powerpoint presentation is finished, practice giving your presentation in your office or home. Presenting it many times to an imaginary audience will help you deliver the presentation perfectly when the big day comes!
